Opposing storytelling in Kingsmen:Secret service - film review

One of the key storytelling method used by filmmakers is characters with opposite opinions and backgrounds. This is often the Hero and Villain.

The two characters I have chosen to look at from this film are Eggsy, the protagonist, and Valentine, the protagonist.

Personal history
Eggsy
Empoverished background, abusive stepfather, father was an agent (this is unknown initially, once known, living up to memory)
Valentine
Wealthy, self-made billionaire, speech impediment, philanthropist, can’t stand blood.

Personal World View
Eggsy
World is unfair, there is nothing to aim for, learns about himself through adversity.
Valentine
Humans are ruining everything, money cannot be the answer, some humans are useless, humans are like a virus, nobody is helping, fear of violence.

Inherited World
Eggsy
Gang fights, chavvy, estate
Valentine
No money is too much, his way or the high way.

Wants (goals)
Eggsy
To prove himself, to remove his mum and sister from a bad situation.
Valentine
To regain notariety, to reduce the world population, to gain control and power, to save the planet

Needs
Eggsy
Support, personal growth
Valentine
Assistance, control

Internal vs External traits
Eggsy
Int: compassionate, loving, proud
Ext: confident, brave
Valentine
Int: nervous, anxious, scared of violence
Ext: confident, sarcastic, in control

Flaws
Eggsy
Pride, cockiness, jumping to conclusions
Valentine
Weak stomach for violence, overconfidence

Overall story arc
Eggsy
Starts off having little to no confidence in self, critiqued by peers. Becomes kingsman. Defeats valentine and saves human race.
Valentine
Self-built billionaire. Appears to be philanthropist. Offers free SIM cards to everyone that will cause them to destroy each other. Plan is foiled by Eggsy.

Conflicts
Eggsy
Loyalty to family vs loyalty to father’s memory and discovering his potential
Valentine
Wanting/needing to create severe violence to save the worl, but can’t stand violence himself.
